AIM National Salary Survey - contributers soughtSince 1964, businesses from across the country have participated in the Australian Institute of Management's annual Salary Survey in order to provide invaluable performance benchmarks that reflect remuneration throughout the nation. Designed for small and large companies and consultants with annual turnovers ranging from $2 million to $200 million, the survey offers exact salary figures and detailed position descriptions for over 330 jobs across 18 industries. Survey results, released in May, provide a base for organisations to examine their own remuneration and packaging needs by way of a powerful, transparent and neutral reference tool. "Developing an effective remuneration program is a complex challenge that impacts every level of business, in every industry and every state," said Ms Carolyn Barker FAIM, Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Institute of Management Qld & NT. "To attract and retain the best employees, it's essential to offer competitive salaries and/or packages. Having the base benchmark knowledge creates a positive business framework whereby organisations can focus on longer term planning." This AIM product has been used for years by business and is considered to be one of the best of its kind in Australia. In order to keep the cohort of contributors large enough for continued meaningful data, the Queensland and Northern Territory division takes an active role in encouraging local businesses to contribute. Forwarding remuneration data for the salary survey is simple. New and continuing contributors can key information through the AIM Salary Surveys website and Customer Service Officers are available for assistance if required. All contributions should be entered before Friday 21 February in order to be included in the 2003 survey. Once the data has been collected from over 650 organisations around the country, including the salary information of more than 25,000 people, the survey is compiled and available for purchase in hard copy or electronic format from May 2003. "At around half the price of other remuneration planning tools, the survey document is highly cost-effective and a small investment to make in the overall management of a business," said Ms Barker. In recognition of their important time and effort spent, participating organisations receive substantial discounts when buying the survey.
