Leadership Studies Go Online

A wholly owned subsidiary of AIM, TheCyberInstitute (TCI) is continuing to break the mould of postgraduate study and help meet the educational needs and demands of busy managers through its new online four unit Graduate Program in Leadership and Innovation.

Participants will enjoy and benefit from the interaction with other learners from various private and public sector industries, while identifying practical applications for their new skills and knowledge.

Since AIM delivered the predecessor to this course in 1999, technology has changed as much as perceptions of leadership, resulting in the program being revised and updated by TCI in conjunction with the Faculty of Business of the University of Southern Queensland (USQ).

Assessment throughout the Graduate Program in Leadership and Innovation will require a demonstration of applied learning through tertiary level assignments and projects.

"In understanding the needs of course participants, there are no examinations included in the assessment process," said General Manager of TCI, Mr Troy McGilvery AIMM.

"Rather, we are looking for applied learning and real results through work based assignments for individuals and organisations that complete the program. This is the point of difference between TCI and some other open learning institutes."

Commencing with a 14 week unit in Corporate Leadership for Executives, the first instalment of the course in Leadership and Innovation, will ensure senior and technical managers will be challenged through rigorous debate, engaging content and resources in one of the most challenging aspects of business success - leadership.

Participants will explore the notion that the leadership core lies in conceptual and interpersonal competencies, rather than technical expertise.

Throughout the development of all four units of the course, TCI will further its commitment to the postgraduate education of its students by continuing to discuss articulation arrangements with a number of Queensland universities.

Enrolments for the first unit of the Graduate Program in Leadership and Innovation - Corporate Leadership for Executives - are being taken now and the course is scheduled to begin on Saturday 22 March. Enrolments started filling last year, so book now to secure your place.

Start date: Saturday 22 March 2003
